ATHLETES

RULES

Due to the situation caused by COVID-19, the first edition of Tomelloso Throwdown will be held online. The qualifying phases and final phases will be organized based on the tournament categories.

The RX category will consist of a qualifying phase of 3 Wods and the top 5 finishers will go on to an online final phase that will be held a week later. In the case of not obtaining the economic prizes, it will consist of a single final phase of 3 Wods.

The rest of the categories will directly compete in a final phase of 3 Wods.

Where Are Videos Uploaded?

Once the video is uploaded to YouTube (with external viewing permissions) you must copy the link of the video and paste it in your WodBuster Arena profile. You also need to enter the result of the Wod so that we can validate it.

Scores

The scores correlate to the result of the wod, that is, the first place is assigned 1 point, the second 2 points, and so on.

Ranking

Your position in the ranking is the summary of the score obtained in all the Wods programmed in the corresponding phase. For example, if it consists of 3 Wods the final position would be "Wod 1+ Wod 2+ Wod 3".

Claims

Physical limitations in range of motion must be shown to the judges at the start of the video. All claims must be made by mail to info@tomellosothrowdown.com by the participant and within 24 hours after the publication of the final classification.

Winner

The winner will be the one who occupies the first position in the ranking in the final phase. In the event of a tie, there will be a tiebreaker of the last WOD and this will continue until there is a winner.

Awards

Prizes and gifts will be deposited/delivered between 30 and 60 days from the end of the event.

The video will start with the presentation of the athlete (name and category). Then the weight of the ball, the height of the throw and the height of the box must be shown (the heights must be measured with a meter and the measurement must also appear in the video).

The video will be cancelled if the weight of the ball or the height of any of the elements is not shown.

The angle of the recording must be such that the Wall Ball can be seen breaking the parallel in the squat and that the ball reaches the indicated height.

For the Burpee Box Jump Over, the contact of the chest with the floor in the burpee must be seen and the line marked on the floor must be between the legs.

In the box jump, the contact of the feet with the box must be clearly visible.

Requirements: To measure the time during the recording of the video it will be possible to use:

  • The free Wodproof application that already incorporates a timer in the recording itself (or similar app)
  • An external timer: the time must be visible at all times during the recording

SCORING

The score will be the time it takes the athlete to execute the WOD.

If the athlete fails to finish, his score will be the time of execution of the WOD (11 minutes) plus one second for each repetition not performed. For example, if there are 7 Burpees Box Jump Over to be done, the total time will be 11:07.

For each NO REP 2 seconds will be added up to a maximum of 15% of the total repetitions. If this 15% is reached, the video will be cancelled.

In WOD 21.2A the athlete will begin seated on the row, but without contact with the rowing paddle.

When the WOD time cap begins, the athlete will begin adding calories until the allotted calories for each round are completed. When he/she finishes the calories, he/she will get off the row and perform the maximum number of Thruster repetitions in the remaining time of each interval.

In each of the rounds, during the rest time, the athlete must be the one to zero the calories of the row and change the weight using only one barbell (no help is allowed).

The score of WOD 21.2A will be the sum of calories of all intervals plus the Thrusters performed in these same intervals. If the row calories are not performed, no Thrusters may be executed.

The WOD 21.2B will be differentiated by category:

Rx/Intermediate/Master +35/Master +40/Master +45 categories: once the three rounds of Wod 21.2A have been completed, the athlete will have four minutes to find the maximum weight for one Cluster repetition. No lowering of weight is allowed during the 1 RM once the lift has been attempted and it must be the athlete himself/herself who changes the weight using only one barbell (no assistance is allowed).

Teen, Scaled, Master +35 Scaled and Master +50 categories: After the completion of the three rounds, the athlete will have one minute rest to set the assigned weight and then will have three minutes to perform the maximum number of Bear Complex repetitions.

The scoring for WOD 21.2B will be:

  • 1 RM Cluster: the total pounds of the heaviest lift performed by the athlete within the allotted time.
  • Bear Complex: the total number of repetitions performed in the Bear Complex will be added, i.e., each complete Complex would add up to 5 repetitions. At the end of the time, even if the last Complex has not been completed, the repetitions achieved within that Complex will also be added.

EXECUTION

Row

  • Only the use of the CONCEPT 2 row will be allowed and all videos using any other type of row than the one described will be invalidated.
  • You may start sitting on the row, having to wait until the time starts to take the paddle.
  • You will have to stay on the row until the number of calories marked appears on the screen.
  • NO REP: Pick up the paddle before the time starts. One repetition will be deducted from the total number of repetitions.
  • NO REP: Get off the row before the marked number of calories is displayed. One repetition will be deducted from the total number of repetitions.
  • ONE REP will be subtracted each time the athlete does not reset the calorie display.

Thruster

  • The movement starts with the bar on the floor. A “Squat Clean + Thruster” (Cluster) can be performed on the first repetition or the other option is to perform a Power Clean and then start performing the Thrusters.
  • Triple hip, knee and elbow extension should be performed at the end of the movement, finishing with the bar aligned with the rest of the body above the head.
  • Only the use of a single barbell is allowed.
  • NO REP: Do not fully extend the elbows, knees or hips.
  • NO REP: Do not bring the bar above the head, keeping the bar in front of the head.
  • NO REP: Do not break the parallel in the squat, leaving the fold of the hip in line or above the knees.
  • ONE REP will be subtracted each time the athlete does not change the weight of the bar.

Cluster

  • The movement begins with the bar on the floor. A “Squat Clean + Thruster” must be performed in a row, one after the other. In this case, performing “Power Clean + Thruster” is not allowed.
  • It is not allowed to lower the weight once the attempt has been made, so, in case of doing so, the lift will not be valid.
  • No assistance in changing the weight is allowed, therefore, if the athlete is not the one to do it, the lift will be cancelled.
  • Only the use of a single barbell is allowed.

Bear Complex

  • The Complex is composed of several movements having to be performed one after the other without the bar falling to the ground until it is completely finished.
  • The Complex consists of the following movements in the marked order: Power Clean + Front Squat + Push Press + Back Squat + Back Push Press.
  • A stop must be marked after each movement without being able to link one with the other, except for the transition from the first Push Press to the Back Squat.
  • NO REP: Do not mark the extension and differentiation of each exercise.
  • NO REP: Not passing the elbows over the bar line in the Power Clean.
  • NO REP: Failure to perform hip extension plus knees.
  • NO REP: Bend knees and/or hips after performing the push on the push press.
NO REP: Failure to align bar with the rest of the body on both push presses.
  • NO REP: Failure to fully extend elbows on both push presses.
  • ONE REP will be subtracted if the athlete does not shift the weight of the bar.

The movements involved in the Bear Complex are described below:

– Power clean:

The movement begins with the bar on the floor. It is then raised up to the shoulders by passing the elbows in front of the line of the bar. The hips and knees may be flexed to at most a half squat position (above 90°). It is not permitted to perform the movement using a squat over 90°.

– Front Squat:

The movement begins with the bar at the shoulders, and then a hip and knee flexion is performed by passing the hip crease under the knees. Hip and knee extension should be marked to finish.

– Push Press / Back Push Press:

The movement begins with the bar at the shoulders, followed by a hip and knee flexion-extension plus an elbow extension. Push Jerk is not permitted.

– Back Squat:

The movement begins with the bar behind the head resting on the trapezius, followed by a hip and knee flexion passing the hip crease under the knees. Hip and knee extension must be marked to finish.

METHOD OF RECORDING

The camera should be positioned at such an angle that at all times the beginning and end of the calories and the perfect execution of both the Thruster, Cluster and Bear Complex (parallel break and full extension should be clearly seen).

Requirements: To measure the time during the recording of the video you will be able to use:

  • The free Wodproof application that already incorporates a timer in the recording itself (or similar app).
  • An external timer: the time must be visible at all times during the recording.

SCORING

The score of the WOD 21.2A will be the sum of calories of all the intervals plus the Thrusters executed in these same intervals. If the row calories are not performed, no Thrusters may be executed.

The score for WOD 21.2B will be:

  • 1 RM Cluster: the total kilograms of the heaviest lift performed by the athlete within the set time.
  • Bear Complex: the total number of repetitions performed in the Bear Complex will be added, i.e., each complete Complex would add up to 5 repetitions. At the end of the time, even if the last Complex has not been completed, the repetitions achieved within that Complex will also be added.
